As a Client Manager at First2Care, my role is building relationships with NDIS participants to increase their capacity to understand their NDIS budget. Primarily my role is completed on the phone so having great communication and listening skills is essential while having a firm grip on the complexity of the NDIS also helps!
I have worked in the community space for almost 2 decades across a broad range of roles including extensive disability leadership, direct care, coordination/management, quality assurance, policy, training and as a NDIS nominee and unpaid carer. I spent many years creating, co-designing and implementing the vision of individuals and their families, developing their ability to design and build their support system across a complex service delivery environment.
I hosted a peer support program, where people with disability developed leadership qualities to share their knowledge to other people with disability. I hosted a group of people to lead and tell their story of how they crafted and created a good life at the yearly Symposium for people with disability. This led me to an advocate role assisting individuals to access the NDIS including the homeless, people living in large shared environments and individuals connected to the criminal justice system.
I am inspired by people and their story, ensuring human rights are upheld, having full access to social inclusion, housing and meaningful employment options. My interests include fur babies (dogs of course), AFL (Richmond of course), music festivals, live theatre, tennis, gardening and cooking.
