CAN I USE REGISTERED AND UNREGISTERED PROVIDERS?
Generally, yes. Plan-managed and self-managed funding can usually be used with registered or unregistered providers. Some supports require a registered provider, so check the requirements for the support you want before agreeing to services. Registered providers are also required for supports paid from the NDIA-managed parts of your plan.
HOW DOES PLAN MANAGEMENT SUPPORT PARTICIPANT CHOICE?
You decide which providers and eligible supports suit your circumstances and goals. Your plan manager handles the financial administration of the funding they manage. Choosing who supports you and checking whether a claim can be paid are separate responsibilities. Your plan manager checks invoices, submits eligible claims, pays providers and keeps financial records.
DO I NEED A SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH EACH PROVIDER?
The NDIS recommends service agreements, so you and your provider understand the supports and arrangements you have agreed on.
A service agreement can explain:
-
which supports will be delivered
-
when and where they will be provided
-
the agreed prices and payment arrangements
-
how to request changes
-
notice and cancellation terms

Service agreements are required for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). They are encouraged for Supported Independent Living (SIL) and other supports. You can ask for an agreement in a format and language you understand.

CAN I CHANGE PROVIDERS?
Yes. You can choose a different provider if your current arrangement no longer suits your needs. Check your service agreement for notice, cancellation and outstanding payment terms. Let your plan manager know about the changes that affect invoices or how your plan-managed funding will be used.
WHAT DOES MY PLAN MANAGEMENT SERVICES IN BRISBANE AREA?
Before submitting a claim, your plan manager checks that:
-
the invoice relates to your plan-managed funding
-
the required provider and service information is included
-
support that aligns with your plan
-
enough funding is available
-
applicable pricing and claiming requirements are met
-
you have authorised the claim through your agreed approval arrangement
These checks help establish whether an eligible claim can be submitted. They are separate from your decision about which provider to use.
CAN MY PLAN MANAGER TELL ME WHICH PROVIDER TO USE?
You choose your providers. Your plan manager can explain funding and claiming requirements, but finding and connecting you with providers is not a plan manager’s responsibility. If an invoice needs clarification, ask which funding or claiming requirement needs checking. This helps distinguish an invoice question from your decision about who supports you.
